Meeting called to order at 6:05 pm by Dr. Lisa Kapler.
Agenda reviewed. Motion made by Pat McDonnell to approve the agenda as presented, seconded by Rosemary Tobin, motion carried.
Minutes of the July 11, 2011 meeting reviewed. Motion made by Rosemary Tobin to approve the minutes, seconded by Pat McDonnell, motion carried.
Gail Arjes, Floyd County Public Health/Home Health Care Administrator
YTD budget reviewed. Discussion was held on cost cutting measures due to the supervisors releasing 90% of the budget. The homemaker program was identified as a program to possibly look at in the future.
Chart audits reviewed and appropriate signatures obtained.
Reviewed the Immunization Program and dollars allocated to Floyd County for 2012. The amount allocated is $9,170.00. These dollars will go towards the VFC Immunization Program for staff time and supplies. Discussion was held regarding the increase in the amount of patients we are seeing in the VFC program. Clinics are full until November, additional clinics have been added and it will be looked at to see if even more need to be offered.
Reviewed the Preparedness Grant for FY 11/12. Floyd Countyís contract amount is for $18,452.00. Discussion was held on ways to effectively spend these dollars to help the county be better prepared for emergencies. Public Health and the Environmental Health department have looked at purchasing an enclosed trailer to store supplies and make mobile clinics easier to set up for both public health and environmental health.
Gail informed the Board that Floyd County has been selected by Live Health Iowa as one of twenty to receive outreach attention in 2011 for community wellness. Live Health Iowa Coordinator John Stevens will be in Floyd County on October 19th to discuss the benefits of forming a wellness coalition within the county. Community wellness leaders have been identified and contacted. Discussion was also held regarding the Start Somewhere Walk on October 7th. Public Health attended a meeting sponsored by Hy-Vee to help promote the Start Somewhere Walk and encourage everyone to walk 1 kilometer at 12:00 on October 7th. Public Health will continue working with Hy-Vee and others in the community to focus on wellness activities. Motion made by Pat McDonnell to support the Start Somewhere Walk on October 7th and to continue working with community members to encourage wellness, seconded by Rosemary Tobin. The Board encouraged a press release is written to show the Boards support.
Information was given to the Board regarding a FREE Rural Health Clinic that will be in Charles City on October 10th. This clinic is being done by the Allen College Nurse Practitioner students. Floyd County Public Health will have two staff members present to assist with injections and help with referrals. Information will be put out throughout the county.

YTD budget is at 16.20% for the year.
Jeff updated the Board on three of the illegal septic systems that have been replaced recently.
Updated the Board on the new vehicle, should be here in the next month.
Updated the Board on new septic and wells, we have installed 44 new septic since January and 16 new wells in the County to date.
