BOARD OF HEALTH/ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES
JULY 14, 2014

Present: Gail Arjes, Administrator Floyd County Public Health. Jeff Sherman,
Floyd County Sanitarian, Roy Schwickerath, Floyd County Board of Supervisors,
and Lisa Koppin, North Iowa Area Community Action
Meeting called to order at
6:00 pm by Lisa Kapler.
Agenda reviewed with one
change. Item II. B. should be fiscal year
end budget review. Motion made by Jodie
Buehler to approve the agenda with the change, seconded by Dave Tice, motion

meeting reviewed. Motion made by Jodie
Buehler to approve the minutes as presented, seconded by Dave Tice motion
Lisa Koppin spoke to the Board
about service provided in Floyd County from North Iowa Community Action
including Maternal Health, Family Planning, Child Health,
I-Smile, and WIC. Numbers for these services have been up in
Floyd County. Lisa also spoke about the
dental audits performed in schools by hygienist Peggy Funk. All Floyd County schools were audited. North Iowa Community Action will also be
contacting schools about a dental sealant program that they have received a

Gail reviewed the FYE budget. Expenditures were at 90.08% with $94,548.83
remaining which will be going back into the county’s general fund.

Chart Audits reviewed, Emily
Bormann continues to come and review charts.
She also does a summary and speaks to the nurses about what she is
finding in charts and ways to correct or improve charting.
Jeff Sherman, Floyd County Sanitarian
FYE budget and revenue
reviewed. Budget was at 83.22% with
$15,472.27 remaining which will go back into the county’s general fund. Revenue
for 2013/2014 was $36,784.47 which comes from Grants to Counties, septic permits,
well permits, Time of Transfer Inspections, and Contractor License.
Jeff updated the Board on the
radon booth he had setup at the Relay for Life event that was held in Charles
City. He had about twelve people stop by for information on radon. He also gave
away five radon tests at the event.
Jeff updated the Board on
Grants to County activities since the last meeting.
