Floyd County Board of Supervisors Workshop Meeting

May 22, 2006, 9:00 AM

The Floyd County Board of Supervisors met for workshop at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 22, 2006 in the Board Room of the Floyd County Courthouse with the following in attendance:  Chairman Staudt, Supv. Dunkel, and Supv. Enabnit.

Dunkel/Staudt moved to amend the agenda to include discussion on Balsam Coop.  Motion carried 2-0.  Dunkel/Staudt moved to approve the agenda as amended.  Motion carried 2-0.

The Board will review claims individually after the meeting.

Marlyn Dettmer informed the Board that Amy Mitchell will be leaving employment with the County Attorney’s office effective June 2, 2006.  Dettmer would like to increase compensation for another worker in her office and hire Mitchell’s replacement at a lesser wage than what Mitchell was making.  The Board will take action on these wages at tomorrow’s regular meeting.

The Board discussed ISAC’s request for financial support toward a Washington County lawsuit against IC&E Railroad.  The Board will take action on this at tomorrow’s regular meeting.

The Board noted the increase in costs for the renewal of our commercial insurance policy.  The major increase is due to workers’ compensation claims.  The Board will likely bid insurance for FY08.  The Board will discuss options to reduce costs and review the work comp section in the employee handbook at a future workshop.

A representative from Balsam Coop contacted Chairman Staudt about the rescoring of the Master Matrix for the confinement permit application for a confinement feeding operation.  Jeff Sherman, Zoning Director, left the rescored matrix in the Auditor’s office.  The board’s approval or denial is due to the DNR by May 24.  This is on the agenda for tomorrow’s regular meeting.

Future agenda items:  Nothing discussed.

A motion was made by Supervisor Dunkel and seconded by Supervisor Enabnit to adjourn.  Motion carried 3-0.
