The Floyd County Board of Supervisors met for workshop at on Monday, June 19, 2006 in the Board Room of the Floyd County Courthouse with the following in attendance:Chairman Staudt. Supv. Dunkel, and Supv. Enabnit.
Dunkel/Enabnit moved to amend the agenda to include discussion regarding the letter the Board sent to the Iowa Utilities Board.Enabnit/Dunkel moved to approve the agenda as amended.Motion carried 3-0.
The Board discussed a spouseís request to allow a resident to be buried next to her husband in the County burial plots and has offered to pay for this plot in installments.The Board will make a formal decision on this issue at the next formal meeting.
Dennis Sanvig presented the Board with his and otherís disappointment of the Boardís recommendation to the Iowa Utilities Board in opposition of the proposed Mid American Energy route of transmission lines to supply electricity to the ethanol plant.Other routes were discussed, i.e. from 195th Street instead of 185th Street or going through the industrial park area to Packard or Ocean Avenue up to the plant.No matter which route is taken, some residents will not be happy.Dunkel commented that the Board does have some leverage by not allowing Mid American Energy access to ditch right of ways and that REC and MidAmerican Energy have done land swaps in the past.
Jim Dow, Rockford Golf Course, informed the Board of a complaint to the DNR about discharge from their open septic system.Dow has been working with the DNR about remedying the septic problems.Due to the open season of the golf course and the cost to fix, this is an untimely issue.Dow requested a letter of support from the Board to provide to the DNR in regard to the Countyís willingness to work with Dow on a plan with a timeline to resolve this issue.Jeff Sherman, Planning/Zoning Director, will draft a letter. Dow is planning on going to the Economic Development Board to see if there is some assistance available.
