The Floyd County Board of Supervisors met for workshop at on Monday, July 10, 2006 in the Board Room of the Floyd County Courthouse with the following in attendance:Chairman Staudt, Supv. Dunkel, and Supv. Enabnit.
Enabnit/Dunkel moved to approve the agenda as presented.Motion carried 3-0.
The Board will review claims individually after the meeting.
The Board discussed the Mid American Energy map provided showing the change in the route of the power lines with the line coming up Ocean Ave instead of coming across 185th St.Supv. Dunkel reported that he visited with Denny Buyert, Manager, Right of Way Services for MidAmerican Energy Company, who said MidAmerican Energy has consulted with an airport safety consultant who feels the revised proposal is more than sufficient to adequately provide access to the air strip on 185th Street.
Supv. Dunkel discussed his concern about the cable cut a couple of weeks ago and having no access for land lines or cell lines to call for emergency services.The Communications Board will meet on August 17.It was suggested that representatives of Qwest and cell phone companies attend this meeting.Supv. Dunkel will talk to Chief Wendell about this.
Chairman Staudt reported that he visited with a representative from the Teen Center Board about the TeenCenter building being for sale.The price is listed at $135,500 with proceeds from the sale going toward Dollars for Scholars scholarships.The Board discussed the feasibility of moving Public Health/Home Health Care facility to this site.Making an offer will for the site will be added to tomorrow’s agenda.
The Board noted fees collected from the Sheriff, Recorder and Auditor.
John McCandless requested to be on the agenda to discuss the housing tax rebate program and request that his new home be considered for this program.McCandless did not show up for today’s meeting.The Board reviewed the building permit for McCandless filed on September 2, 2005.The Board discontinued the Housing Rebate Program on June 30, 2005.Building permits were to be filed and construction was to be started by June 30, 2005 to be eligible for the rebate.McCandless did not meet the criteria to be eligible for this program.
