Floyd County Board of Supervisors Workshop Meeting

August 14, 2006, 9:00 AM


The Floyd County Board of Supervisors met for workshop at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, August 14, 2006 in the Board Room of the Floyd County Courthouse with the following in attendance:  Chairman Staudt, Supv. Dunkel and Supv. Enabnit.

Dunkel/Enabnit moved to amend the agenda to include discussion on the Teen Center building and a letter of resignation for an Assessorís office employee.  Motion carried 3-0.  Enabnit/Dunkel moved to approve the agenda as amended.  Motion carried 3-0.

The Board noted the chairman signing two additional documents, an Easement calculation Sheet and a receipt of the Notice of Cancellation form, as part of the MidAmerican Energy Option for Electrical Line Easement for the Conservation property. 

Doug Schroeder, Conservation Director, stated the Conservation Board has approved the hiring of Heidi Reams from part-time to full-time, effective August 7 with compensation of $10.75/hour.  At this time, Schroeder does not intend to fill the part-time vacancy but will likely do so in the future.

Schroeder and the Board discussed the vacancy of the County Weed Commissioner position.  Schroeder will propose a letter to the Board on how he would like to see the work and the compensation of the weed commissioner responsibilities distributed.

Schroeder and the Board discussed the campgrounds throughout the County.

The Board discussed the receipt of a Lease Agreement with Option to Purchase the Countyís 2nd Street property from the City of Charles City.  The Board will seek advice from the County Attorney on how to proceed.

The Board noted the certification of the 2005 tax list due and payable in 2006-2007.

The Board noted the fees collected from the Clerk of Court.

Chairman Staudt updated the Board on his conversation with Bruce Cannon, Teen Center Board representative, regarding the Teen Center building.  The Board will act on making an offer at the next regular meeting.

Randy Janssen, Janssen Waterproofing, updated the Board on the west wall repair project.  The Board noted that Chairman Staudt signed the Extra Work Order #1 from Janssen Waterproofing, Inc. for extra work on the southwest corner of the courthouse at a cost of $26,000. 

The Board noted the resignation of Nancy Hedrick, computer operator and GIS Technician for the Assessorís office, effective August 8.

Future agenda items:  wage increase for Planning/Zoning

A motion was made by Supervisor Dunkel and seconded by Supervisor Enabnit to adjourn.  Motion carried 3-0.
