Floyd County Board of Supervisors Workshop Meeting

October 23, 2006, 9:00 AM


The Floyd County Board of Supervisors met for workshop at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, October 23, 2006 in the Board Room of the Floyd County Courthouse with the following in attendance:  Chairman Staudt, Supv. Dunkel, and Supv. Enabnit.

Dunkel/Enabnit moved to amend the agenda to include discussion regarding relocating an enterprise zone area.  Motion carried 3-0.  Enabnit/Dunkel moved to approve the agenda as amended.  Motion carried 3-0.

The Board will review claims individually after the meeting.

The board discussed the service plans available from MidAmerican Energy.  The Board will act on this at the next regular meeting.

The Board discussed a letter dated October 18 from Dennis Sanvig regarding placement of the waterline along his property.  Tracy Meise, City of Charles City representative, provided a copy of a letter dated October 18 that the City sent to property owners.  Meise addressed an issue regarding a retainer in place to assure the property is put back in its original condition.  The Board discussed sending a letter to Sanvig.

Chairman Staudt updated the Board regarding his conversation with the County Attorney on the Lead 28E agreement between the County and the City of Charles City.  The County Attorney recommends holding off doing anything until after the election.    

Chairman Staudt will visit with the Zoning/E911 Signs/Sanitarian regarding comp time being earned and used.  Supv Dunkel would like earned time to be used during same pay period.

The Board noted the response to the IPERS survey regarding reclassifying jailers.  After talking with the Sheriff, the Board’s response was “no” that the guidelines in the survey do not pertain to the jailers.

The Board noted the receipt of letter from Bruce Cannon, Teen Center Board representative, stating that they have accepted an offer from Bethany Alliance Church.

The Board discussed a letter from Tim Fox, Area Development Corporation Director, regarding possibly relocating an Enterprize Zone to the city of Greene.

Donielle Jarvella and Tom O’Brien, Auxiant representatives, presented a 9-month review of our insurance stats.  The Board discussed changes to the plan beginning January 1, 2007.  New plan books are expected to come out in 2007.

A motion was made by Supervisor Dunkel and seconded by Supervisor Staudt to adjourn.  Motion carried 2-0.
