Floyd County Board of Supervisors Workshop Meeting

February 19, 2007, 9:00 AM


The Floyd County Board of Supervisors met for a workshop meeting at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, February 19, 2007 in the Board Room of the Floyd County Courthouse with the following in attendance:  Chairman Dunkel, Supv. Enabnit, and Supv. Staudt

Staudt/Enabnit moved to approve the agenda as presented.  Motion carried 3-0.  

The Board discussed the draft resolution provided by NACO regarding Loss of Federal Entitlement Benefits.  The Board will act on this resolution at the next regular meeting.

Doug Merfeld requested the Marble Rock Monument funds be funneled through Floyd County.  The Auditor will talk to Gardiner-Thomsen.

The Auditor reported that the County’s insurance representative stated the Sheriff Reserves, Search & Rescue, township trustees/clerks, and pollworkers are covered under the County’s workers’ compensation insurance; volunteers are not covered.

The Auditor presented information from the IRS and reported on conversations with two accountants regarding paying mileage for the Emergency Management Coordinator for communing to and from home and work.  In addition, the Emergency Management Commission, not the Supervisors, would need to approve wages and benefits for Coordinator’s position.  Supv Dunkel will visit with the Coordinator about this information.  The Auditor will gather information regarding commuting rules when county vehicles are taken home.

The Board noted that Margie Wihlm was appointed as Clerk, Richard Wihlm was appointed to fill the remaining term as Trustee with Ed Noss serving a new 4-year term for Scott Township.

The Board noted the hiring of Dusten Paulus as a Maintenance/Wildlife Tech for the Conservation Department effective February 13, 2007 at $22,000/year salary.

The Board noted the wage increase for Katherine Baldwin, RN, from $18 to $19/hour after completing her 6-month probationary period on February 23, 2007 in the PH/HHC Dept.

The Board noted the resignations of Marcy Johnson, effective February 16, and Dale Gillespie, effective March 2, as PH/HHC Aides

The Board discussed budgets and met with the PH/HHC Director on budget changes

A motion was made by Supervisor Staudt and seconded by Supervisor Enabnit to adjourn.  Motion carried 3-0.
