Floyd County Board of Supervisors Meeting

October 23, 2007, 9:00 AM


The Floyd County Board of Supervisors met for regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 in the Board Room of the Floyd County Courthouse with the following in attendance:  Chairman Dunkel, Supv. Enabnit and Supv. Staudt.

Staudt/Enabnit moved to amend the agenda to include review/action regarding issuing a fireworks permit and review/action regarding General Assistance.  Motion carried 3-0.  Enabnit/Staudt moved to approve the agenda as amended.  Motion carried 3-0. 

Staudt/Enabnit moved to approve the October 8, 9 and 15, 2007 minutes.  Motion carried 3-0.

Lois Litterer, General Assistance Director, provided a letter of resignation due to retirement.  Enabnit/Staudt moved to accept the letter of resignation effective December 31, 2007.

Enabnit/Staudt moved to approve the following claims:  County 1207-1382, Secondary Roads 10261-10294, MH-DD 57418-57448.  Motion carried 3-0.

  Staudt/Enabnit moved to authorize the chairman to sign the Floyd County Community Foundation:  Operations Fund, grant #20080958 contract for $250 for general support of the Floyd County Search and Rescue.  Motion carried 3-0.

Enabnit/Staudt moved to contribute $150 to Woodbury County to offset their out-of-pocket expenses for their lawsuit in federal district court concerning the strip search policy in their jail.  Motion carried 3-0.

Staudt/Enabnit moved, at the request of the Treasurer, to abate the 2007-2008 property taxes in the amount of $160.61 that remains unpaid for parcel #100949801 and 100950301 for property that has been acquired for public purposes by the city of Marble Rock.  Motion carried 3-0. 

Enabnit/Staudt moved to set a zoning hearing on November 27 at 9:45 a.m. for an application by Curtis and Teresa Stevens-Marth to rezone part of their property located at 2025 210th St in the SW¼ of Sec 11, Twp 95N, Range 17W, Ulster Township, from AG to C-1 for the purpose of selling used utility trucks.  Motion carried 3-0. 

Staudt/Enabnit moved to approve the Floyd County Employee Health Plan Amendment #1 to include legislative and compliance updates per Auxiant.  Motion carried 3-0. 

Enabnit/Staudt moved to approve a fireworks permit for a display to be held at 2969 Wedgewood Estates, Charles City on November 3, 2007.  Motion carried 2-1. 

Dusten Rolando, County Engineer, provided the foreman’s meeting minutes and updated the board on the following projects:  T38, Rockford road, 300th St bridge, viaduct, and the March Ave bridge.  Supv Enabnit requested Rolando fix a hole at a bridge approximately 1½ miles from the Clarksville turn on B60.  

A motion was made by Supervisor Enabnit and seconded by Supervisor Staudt to adjourn.  Motion carried 3-0.
