The Floyd County Board of Supervisors met for regular session at on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 in the Board Room of the Floyd County Courthouse with the following in attendance:Chairman Enabnit, Supv. Staudt, and Supv.Dunkel.
Staudt/Dunkel moved to amend the agenda to include review/action regarding Secondary Road summer wages.Motion carried 3-0.Dunkel/Staudt moved to approve the agenda as amended.Motion carried 3-0.
Dunkel/Staudt moved to approve the February 11, 12, and 18, 2008 minutes.Motion carried 3-0.
Staudt/Dunkel moved to approve the following claims:County #2632-2778, Secondary Roads #10546-10564, MH-DD #57678-57709.Motion carried 3-0.
Dunkel/Staudt moved to allow the Public Health/Home Health Care Dept to purchase three Hewlett Packard laptop computers with Microsoft Office software for $4,461.00.Motion carried 3-0.
Staudt/Dunkel moved to approve a class C Liquor License for Freeze Frame Bowl and a Class C Liquor License for Cedar Ridge Golf Course pending proof of dram shop insurance.Motion carried 3-0.
Dunkel/Staudt moved to approve the settlement with EMC Insurance on a wrecked 1999 Ford Sheriff’s vehicle for $4,500 plus the cost to transfer the equipment, less our $500 deductible.Motion carried 3-0.
The Board reviewed two Technical Engineering Analysis bids, one from KPE-Consulting Engineers, Inc from Bellevue, NE for $7.402.80 and one from Michael’s Engineering from LaCrosse, WI for $9,498.00.Michael Adams, IDNR-Iowa Energy Bank Program, reviewed both proposals and said he holds both firms in high regard.Once the Board selects a firm, Adams will send a letter to MidAmerican Energy for financial request to secure potential funding to pay for a portion of the study.Staudt/Dunkel moved to accept the bid of $7,402.80 from KPE-Consulting Engineers, Inc. for a Technical Engineering Analysis.Motion carried 3-0.
Dunkel/Staudt moved to approve the Floyd County Dust Control Policy.Motion carried 3-0.
Staudt/Dunkel moved to approve the Secondary Road Department Summer wages for 2008, noting no changes in wages from last year.Motion carried 3-0.
The Board reviewed the Secondary Road Foreman’s minutes.Two candidates were offered operator positions pending pre-employment physicals and drug testing.The letting for the Rockford road project came in at just over a million dollars.The letting for the 300th St bridge came in around $350,000.
Jesse Marzen, CountyAttorney, requested that the Board go in to closed session per Iowa Code Sec. 21.5.1a and 21.5.1c to discuss an issue of litigation.Dunkel/Staudt moved to go into closed session at the request of the CountyAttorney to discuss pending litigation.Roll call vote:Eyes for Staudt, Enabnit, and Dunkel.Motion carried 3-0.
The Board reconvened in open session.
No Board action was necessary to be taken after the closed session.
