The Floyd County Board of Supervisors met for regular workshop on Monday, July 18, 2005 in the Boardroom of the Floyd County Courthouse with the following in attendance:Chairman Enabnit, Supv. Staudt, and Supv. Dunkel.
Dunkel/Staudt moved to approve the agenda as presented.Motion carried 3-0.
The Board reviewed claims to be paid on July 26, 2005.
The Board discussed the indigent funeral policy.General Assistance provides for burials under policy approved by the board on March 25, 2003.Veteran Affairs has been following a policy approved by the board on January 14, 1997.The Board discussed their understanding of the County having one policy for either type of burial with a limit of $850 plus $200 for opening and closing of the grave.Marcia Hall-Jacobson, Veteran Affairs Director, would like a letter from the Board stating the limit they will pay that she can provide to funeral homes along with her burial policy. The CountyCommissions of Veteran Affairs Code of Iowa 35B.13 was reviewed.Marcia will provide information on what other counties are paying for funerals.The Board would like to see one policy for the County with both codes referenced and a limit of $850.
The Board reviewed samples of other counties fireworks policies and applications.The Board discussed training/certification requirements of person setting off fireworks.Supervisor Dunkel is working on a disclaimer protecting the County from liability that could be added to our existing application.A suggestion was made to send notices to people who have had displays in the last two years once the changes to the application are approved.
The Board noted Pat Zwanzigerís request to expand Janice Brahnís hours from two days/week to four days/week in Public Health/Home Health Care Department.
The Board noted the receipt of fees collected by the Clerk of Courtís office for the month of June 2005; Sheriff fees - $60, Sheriff Surcharge - $502.50, Treasurer - $690.08.
Future agenda items will be:1) changing regular meeting dates to include every Monday. 2) Supervisor Dunkel obtaining specific information on the cityís health insurance from Don Lorsung and review health/dental plan information from Auxiant.3) Have Mike Milligan discuss status of junk ordinance.
A motion was made by Supervisor Dunkel and seconded by Supervisor Staudt to adjourn.Motion carried 3-0.
