Floyd County Board of Supervisors Meeting

UNAPPROVED MINUTES

The Floyd County Board of Supervisors met for workshop session at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, April 27, 2009, in the Board Room of the Floyd County Courthouse with the following in attendance:  Supv Dunkel, Chair Pro-Tem, and Supv Enabnit; absent:  Chairman Staudt

Enabnit/Dunkel moved to amend the agenda to include updates on the Hospice center and the Board of Health.  Motion carried 2-0.  Enabnit/Dunkel moved to approve the agenda as amended.  Motion carried 2-0. 

The Board will review claims individually after the meeting. 

Gail Arjes, PH/HHC Director, provided one local and one out of county quote for the same shredder.  If the local bidder can come down some in price, Arjes will buy locally.

Supv Dunkel updated the Board on potential candidates for Board of Health. 

Supv Dunkel updated the Board about changes to the Hospice of North Iowa service area and their intentions of using the Charles City building. 

John Loftus, Veteran Affairs Commissioner, expressed his interest in serving on the commission for another 3-year term.  The VA Commission has limits of three 3-year terms.  The Board would like the VA Coordinator to visit with the Board about commissioner candidates at next Monday’s meeting.

The Board discussed implementing a bidding policy.  This will be discussed more at a later date.

The Board discussed changing the Sheriff’s parking lot to a county-owned vehicle lot that would including parking for the deputy’s vehicles and certain county-owned vehicles.  Sheriff Rick Lynch expressed his concerns about changes to the Sheriff’s lot which has been designated as the Sheriff’s lot for years and commented that there are other parking issues that should be addressed.  Supv Enabnit said the Board will address all of these issues in a motion at tomorrow’s regular Board meeting.

Bridget Moe, Emergency Management Coordinator, reminded the Board about the 2nd Floyd County Mitigation Planning meeting this afternoon at the fire station.  Moe also informed the Board about a Floyd County Community Foundation grant awarded to the Floyd County Search and Rescue agency for equipment to shoot across from one side of the river to the other.

A motion was made by Supervisor Enabnit and seconded by Supervisor Dunkel to adjourn.  Motion carried 3-0.
