The Floyd County Board of Supervisors met for workshop at on Monday, August 29, 2005 in the Board Room of the Floyd County Courthouse with the following in attendance: Chairman Enabnit, Supv. Staudt, Supv. Dunkel.
Dunkel/Staudt moved to amend the agenda to include discussion of appointments to various committees.Motion carried 3-0.Staudt/Dunkel moved to approve the agenda as amended.Motion carried 3-0.
The Board noted the receipt of $224.78 from the Extension Office for County’s share of Adult Day Care items sold.
Iowa Code sections 359.46 and 359.47 regarding compensation of Township Trustees and Clerks were reviewed.The Board discussed possibly changing compensation for Township Trustees and Clerks from being paid per day/meeting to being paid per hour. This would allow the clerks to get paid an hourly rate for official work.Mileage should also be discussed.The Board would like the Trustees and Clerks notified that this topic will be addressed at the September 12 workshop meeting so they could have a representative of their township present.
The Board noted the upcoming school election on September 13.Canvassing of the ballots will take place the following Friday.The Board and Auditor discussed some possible changes to polling places, such as using the Charles City Library instead of City Hall and alternative locations to the Armory.
Ken Mahler, Emergency Management Director, presented information regarding $25,000 in grant dollars available for creating or updating an Emergency Operating Center (EOC).Mahler is meeting with the City Administrator to discuss options at the police station.Mahler will keep the Board informed.
The Board discussed potential candidates for two openings with the Hospital Commission.
The Board discussed potential candidates for the City/County Sharing Meeting.Supv. Dunkel will work on finding candidates from Colwell, Floyd and NoraSprings areas.Supv Enabnit will work on candidates from Marble Rock and Rockford areas.Supv. Staudt will work on candidates from the Rudd area.Supv. Dunkel will represent the County on the Sharing Committee.
A motion was made by Supervisor Dunkel and seconded by Supervisor Staudt to adjourn.Motion carried 3-0.
