Floyd County Board of Supervisors Meeting

The Floyd County Board of Supervisors met for workshop session at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 10, 2010 in the Board Room of the Floyd County Courthouse with the following in attendance: Supv. Enabnit, Chair Pro-tem, and Supv. Staudt; absent: Chairman Dunkel
Staudt/Enabnit moved to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried 2-0.
The Board noted the receipt of a letter from Cerro Gordo County Department of Public Health regarding notification that they will terminate their state contract for various inspections. This department conducts food inspections in Floyd County. The state will either enter into new contracts for inspection services with another agency or handle the inspections internally.
The Board noted that the public hearing regarding Carl Knapp, Knapp Diversified, and Vernon Martin, Countryside Construction, to rezone 2.83 acres from Ag to C-1 has been cancelled.
The Board noted the receipt of a letter from Norm Klemesrud, County Attorney, regarding the hiring of Todd Prichard as the Assistant County Attorney. Prichard will be working part time at a 2/3 schedule with a salary of $45,000 per year.
The Board noted a resolution from the Board of Directors of Hawkeye Community College regarding levying a tax for the purpose of paying principal and interest on Industrial New Jobs Training Certificates.
The Auditor proposed a quote for new tables for the General Assembly Room. Quotes came in around $1,000 plus shipping. The Board will act on this at tomorrow’s regular meeting.
The Auditor reported that response from the Department Head meeting regarding offering a 20-year term life insurance policy with Marilyn Meissen, Cincinnati Life Insurance representative, was to hold off and check with companies we already work with to see what they have available. The concept of this policy was received well with the exception of requiring all employees to sign up or waive the offer for insurance.

A motion was made by Supervisor Staudt and seconded by Supervisor Enabnit to adjourn. Motion carried 2-0.
