Floyd County Board of Supervisors Workshop Meeting

September 26, 2005, 9:00 AM

The Floyd County Board of Supervisors met for workshop at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, September 26, 2005 in the Board Room of the Floyd County Courthouse with the following in attendance:  Chairman Enabnit, Supv. Staudt, Supv. Dunkel.

Dunkel/Staudt moved to approve the agenda as presented.  Motion carried 3-0.

The Board will review claims individually after the meeting.

The Board discussed Waste Tire Amnesty Day on October 1 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.  Chairman Enabnit will check with JR Ackley to see if he could help and find out from Ken Heimendinger if he will provide receipt books and cash to operate.

The Board discussed money that the county owes Decat and Families Together.  No dollars have been budgeted.  The Board will take action on the October 11 board meeting.

Future agenda items – 1) Supervisor Dunkel handed out his notes and Mayor Erb’s handout from the Regional Resource Sharing meeting on September 21; the next meeting is November 9.  2) Review purchasing and personnel policies at October 3 meeting and discuss in department head meeting on October 4

The Board moved the meeting to the General Assembly Room at 10:00 a.m.  Approximately 25 people attended the meeting regarding discussion of Township Trustees and Clerks compensation.  The general consensus was for the Board to change the current pay of $16 per meeting to each trustee and clerk for the time spent attending scheduled meetings to $20 per hour plus mileage to each trustee and clerk while engaged in official business.  Official business does not include where fees or compensation are paid by parties requiring their services, e.g. fencing disputes, cemetery services, etc.  Trustees and clerks are to be compensated out of the County’s General Fund, not out of the townships budgets.  Due to findings in an IPERS audit, the Auditor’s office is in the process of changing trustees and clerks from being paid through claims to being paid through payroll.  The Board will take action on the trustees/clerks compensation at tomorrow’s meeting as well as when any changes will go into effect.

A motion was made by Supervisor Dunkel and seconded by Supervisor Enabnit to adjourn.  Motion carried 2-0.
