Floyd County Board of Supervisors Meeting
October 4, 2010, 9:00 AM
The Floyd County Board of Supervisors met for workshop session at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, October 4, 2010 in the Board Room of the Floyd County Courthouse with the following in attendance: Chairman Dunkel, Supv. Enabnit, and Supv. Staudt.
Enabnit/Staudt moved to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried 3-0.
Sheriff Lynch spoke to the Board about a complaint from two ladies regarding a rough railroad crossing at T24 north of the Avenue of Saints. Lynch reported that he drove over the tracks several times and didn’t see a major problem but it is a rough crossing. The complainants reported that they have spoke with the County Engineer. The Board commented that fixes to railroads take a while to be repaired due to lack of funding. The Auditor will provide the Sheriff’s report to the County Engineer to see if he has contacted the railroad and if so, see if he can check on the status.
Jan Streich, Decategorization Coordinator, informed the Board that she has accepted a position with the Department of Human Services and the Decat Governance Board is seeking her replacement which oversees seven counties. Currently AEA oversees the employment for the Coordinator’s contract with the state funding dollar per dollar plus a 3% fiscal agent fee. A copy of contract with the AEA and Dept of Human Services was provided for review. Streich commented that legislatively, the coordinator cannot be an employee of the state. Discussion including merging the position with the current FMC Empowerment duties, potential unemployment costs to the county if the state discontinues funding, merging other agencies with the Decat responsibilities, AEA’s willingness to continue being the employer of record through June 2011 if necessary. The Board would like to have Evan Klink come to next Monday’s workshop meeting to discuss the subject further before making any commitments.
Future agenda items: 1) Courthouse Security issue, 2) resolution to discontinue the slough bill
A motion was made by Supervisor Staudt and seconded by Supervisor Enabnit to adjourn. Motion carried 3-0.
