Floyd County Board of Supervisors Meeting

January 31, 2011, 9:00 AM

UNAPPROVED MINUTES

The Floyd County Board of Supervisors met for a workshop meeting at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, January 31, 2011 in the Board Room of the Floyd County Courthouse with the following in attendance:  Chairman Dunkel, Supv. Kuhn, and Supv. Kamm.

Kamm/Kuhn moved to approve the agenda as presented.  Motion carried 3-0.

Supv Dunkel updated the Board on the FMC Landfill and the County Social Services board meetings that he recently attempted.  Supv Dunkel has attempted to get information from NIVC regarding meetings but has not received a response.  Supv Kamm commented about switching T21 board representation and discussed the board’s representation on two juvenile detention centers.  Supv Kuhn will be attending the Conservation Board meeting tomorrow to discuss the Rockford dam, options for funding to remedy the dam issue, and the 10-year celebration of the Fossil & Prairie Park.  Benefits of NACo membership were discussed.

The Board discussed a quote from Central Lock & Key for the west door electronic locking/entry system.  Supv Dunkel would like the other two supervisors to look at the door area to see if we need to move the door out so the cameras catch who is at the door.  The Auditor will visit with the Sheriff to capture his view on the manual versus electronic system and the camera views of the door.

The Board discussed a letter from Greg Davis, Solutions, regarding the county’s InstaGate Pop3 Mail versus Microsoft Hosted Exchange.  The Auditor will set up a conference call with Davis for next Monday.  The Board may check what other vendors/options are available and check with other counties or businesses to see what they use.

The Board conducted a conference call with Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors regarding the County Engineer’s salary.  The Counties will consider cost of living, overall county budgets, and other county engineer’s wages and schedule another conference call at a later date.

The Board discussed property levies, fund balances and a date for the FY12 budget hearing.

The Auditor is planning to schedule the bi-annual wellness benefit with the Floyd County Medical Center in February or March.  Blood draws, PSAs, and mammograms will be scheduled as well as a follow up educational meeting for employees to attend within a few weeks after the receiving blood test results.

The Board continued the meeting at the Floyd County Medical Center for a tour of the facility.

A motion was made by Supervisor Kamm and seconded by Supervisor Kuhn to adjourn.  Motion carried 3-0.
