Floyd County Board of Supervisors Meeting

May 2, 2011, 9:00 AM


The Floyd County Board of Supervisors met for a special meeting at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2011 in the Board Room of the Floyd County Courthouse with the following in attendance:  Chairman Dunkel, Supv. Kamm, and Supv. Kuhn. 

Kamm/Kuhn moved to approve the agenda as presented.  Motion carried 3-0.

Kuhn/Kamm moved to approve an Application to Use the Courthouse Grounds for a Caring Connections/Mentor a Child for an event in the Courthouse General Assembly Room on Tuesday, May 24 at 5:05 p.m. 

Kuhn/Kamm moved to set a public hearing on May 10 at 9:30 a.m. for a petition to rezone and request for approval of a Preliminary Subdivision Plan for the Carville Cabins Homeowner’s Association.  Motion carried 3-0.

Kamm/Kuhn moved to set a public hearing on May 24 at 9:15 a.m. for the FY11 County Budget Amendment.  Motion carried 3-0. 

Kamm/Kuhn motioned to approve non-union/non-bargaining unit employees may use up to five days of accrued sick days per fiscal year to care for an ill or injured immediate family member, defined as a parent, spouse or child.  Motion carried 3-0. 

The Board will review the Floyd County Employee Handbook at a future meeting, after department heads have reviewed and made recommendations to the Board.

The Board discussed property assessment notices for miscellaneous properties owned by Floyd County.  Discussion included various reason property is owned by the county, cost to dispose of property, and interest in getting property back on the tax rolls where possible. 

Conducting employee evaluations this summer for employees who report to the Supervisors and other Boards/Commissions were discussed.  Supervisors will individually complete evaluation forms, average the rankings for each employee, and assign reviews individually with employees. 

Chickasaw County and Floyd County Board of Supervisors via conference call discussed the Employment Contract and Agreement for the County Engineer.  The Boards mutually and informally agreed to 2% salary increase and agreed to extend the termination clause from 60 to 120 days.

The Board noted the receipt of two Hawkeye Community College Resolutions for Industrial New Jobs Training Certificates. 

Future agenda items:  plans for the north door sidewalk project and flood management changes.

A motion was made by Supervisor Kamm and seconded by Supervisor Kuhn to adjourn.  Motion carried 3-0.
