The Floyd County Board of Supervisors met for workshop at on Monday, November 7, 2005 in the Board Room of the Floyd County Courthouse with the following in attendance:Chairman Enabnit, Supv. Staudt, and Supv. Dunkel.
Dunkel/Staudt moved to approve the agenda as presented.Motion carried 3-0.
The Board will review claims individually after the meeting.
Duffy Whitzel, Parents United of North Central Iowa, explained services available by their office.Parents United is looking for opportunities to speak at civic organizations or public meetings in effort to gain financial support.Whitzel mentioned that some counties are offering payment toward client assessments or group meetings.The Board suggested Whitzel meet with Bob Lincoln, Case Management Director.
The Board discussed a high quality job creation program with the Iowa Department of Economic Development.Vera Sun will have approximately 53 jobs at $16.72/hr or over $1,800,000 annually. Tim Fox, Economic Development Director, is working on a resolution regarding job creation for the Supervisors to be acted upon in a special meeting next Monday.The CountyEngineer is proceeding with the RISE application which, if approved, will cover road work from one direction.Vera Sun wants access from both directions.The Board discussed other ways of funding road work to the north of the plant.
The Board discussed the Rockford Brownfield site.The Board is considering having the Secondary Roads equipment used to help remove the debris from the site and using this cost for the matching funds.Fox will look into what it would cost to have a private company clean up the debris and will also talk with the CountyTreasurer about delinquent taxes.
The Board held a conference call with Tom O’Brien, Auxiant representative, regarding health insurance options.O’Brien e-mailed information and reviewed proposed plan modifications with the Board.
No future agenda items were discussed.
A motion was made by Supervisor Staudt and seconded by Supervisor Dunkel to adjourn.Motion carried 2-0.
