Floyd County Board
of Supervisors Meeting
October 21, 2013, 9:00 AM
The Floyd County Board of Supervisors met in the Board Room of the Floyd County
Courthouse with the following in attendance:
Supv. Kuhn, Chair, Supv. Schwickerath and Supv Kamm.
Schwickerath/Kuhn moved to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried 3-0.
The Board will review claims individually after the
Updates on previous boards/commissions/activities: Supv
Kamm attended the following meetings: Central
Iowa Juvenile Detention Center, FMC Landfill, Conservation, Cultural
Entertainment District Grant Committee, Chamber of Commerce, Joint Entity, and
two, Asset Management meetings. Supv
Schwickerath attended the following meetings:
Rockford City Council, Community Revitalization, North Central Regional
Emergency Response Commission and Planning District Committee, Region II RP
(Previous T21-Roads) and NIVC. Supv Kuhn
attended a Risk Management Committee and met with the Iowa Economic Development
Authority regarding a rooftop solar challenge program. All three supervisors worked the tire pickup
at the fairgrounds on Saturday.
The Board congratulated Doug Schroeder and Laura
Elfers, Conservation Department staff, for the recent news on receiving the
REAP grant award for $250,000 for the purchase of Tosanak Recreeation Area
(Winnebago Scout Camp). Schroeder stated
that the funds should come within a months or so and the department intends to
have some sort of celebration. The Board
reviewed the history of the REAP program which reflects that Floyd County
(including the cities in Floyd County) has received $1,432,371 in funds,
generated from gambling revenue and paid to counties who maintain $0.22/$1,000
of property tax revenue for conservation purposes. Schroeder would like to have an active REAP
Committee in the county. the Board of the success of the REAP program
awarding funding for the purchase of the Tosanak Recreation Area. Schroeder would like to have an active REAP
Committee in the county.
The County Attorney is working with the city’s
attorney on an agreement for putting the city’s antenna for camera reception on
the roof of the courthouse. Hopefully
the agreement will be available for action at tomorrow’s meeting.
The Board noted the receipt of the annual reports from
the Floyd County Assessor and the Area Development Corporation, both for year’s

Health Care Aide, effective October 25, 2013.
Future agenda items:
Tomorrow the Board will act on setting the public canvas for the City
