Floyd County Board of Supervisors Meeting

March 10, 2014, 9:00 AM


The Floyd County Board of Supervisors met in the Board Room of the Floyd County Courthouse with the following in attendance:  Supv. Schwickerath, Chair, Supv Kamm, and Supv. Kuhn.

Kamm/Schwickerath moved to approve the agenda as presented.  Motion carried 3-0.

Updates on previous boards/commissions/activities:  Supv Kamm attended a Conservation meeting where they approved the Floyd County Employee Handbook, appointed Laura Elfers as the Director replacing Doug Schroeder when he retires and posting a position for a Ranger/Resource Manager.  Supv Kuhn attended an Upper Cedar Watershed Management Improvement Authority meeting where they studied a hydrological study including prevention of flooding if measures are taken and the board voted to partner with an interagency team that will hold workshops to engage stakeholders in the watershed.  Supv Schwickerath attended the Department Head meeting where they discussed the draft of the Public Purpose and Alcohol and Drug Use policies and attended a Risk Management Committee meeting where they discussed a window ladder and other issues.

Wayne Koehler and Chuck Souder, Farm Bureau Representatives, reviewed the FY15 budget with the Board.

Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors Rick Holthaus, Tim Zoll, John Anderson, and Jason Byrne were joined in a conference call.  The boards discussed the County Engineer’s FY15 employment contract.  The consensus was to give a 4% salary increase with the exception of Supv Zoll who suggested 3%.  Supv Kuhn suggested adding language to the contract to include compliance with the IRS taxable benefit of using a county-owned vehicle.

The Board noted the fees collected by the Clerk of Court for the month of February.

The Board noted the hiring of Anita Wendel, Public Health/Home Health Care Aide, effective March 5, 2014 with a starting wage of $9.25 per hour. 

Future agenda items:  Supv Schwickerath will visit with the Sherriff regarding setting up a meeting with stakeholders affected by the changes in the operations of the jail.    

Kamm/Kuhn motioned to adjourn the meeting.  Motion carried 3-0.
