Minutes...FCCB Special Meeting

5:00 PM June 11th, 2013 Trowbridge Wildlife


Members: Paulus, Hicok, Uetz, Schneckloth, Wendland


Meeting was called to order at 5:10 PM by President Hicok.


Citizens Present: Doug Kamm, Dirk Uetz


Motion by Uetz, 2nd by Paulus to approve Agenda. MC


1. Hunting as a recreation use/compatible with Tosanak Recreation Area was discussed extensively. The major points referenced was the policy:

101A Outdoor Recreation 1. Hunting, Fishing, Trapping: The Floyd County Conservation Board recognizes hunting, fishing and trapping as legitimate outdoor recreational activities when in compliance with all applicable State & Federal regulations.

Note: The Floyd County Conservation board has reserved the right to fashion additional and specific regulations for lands/waters under its jurdiction to protect the integrity of the resource or enhance public safety.

The Board also referenced Floyd County Ordinance 2006-2 Establishing rules and regulations for areas under the control of the Floyd County Conservation Board.

Motion by Schneckloth, 2nd by Wendland to approve hunting with restrictions at Tosanak Recreation Area. MC Unanimously

Motion by Uetz, 2nd by Wendland to allow hunting at Tosanak Recreation Area. MC Unanimously

President Hicok assigned FCCB staff to develop hunting seasons/restrictions options for the Board to consider at the August Board meeting.

2. Volunteer Day: Director Schroeder offered a couple of options of projects at Tosanak for a scheduled volunteer day (Saturday). Picnic tables and pads in the day use area and landscaping.

Updates: The Board reviewed a draft letter to Jim Boyle. The Board was reminded Uetz’s term ends June 30th. July Board meeting is a new fiscal year and election of Officers. A brief update of Shell Rock River dam.


Next meeting July 2, 2013 at 5 p.m. at Tosanak Recreation Area.
