[ARCHIVED] County Candidate Filing Deadlines

Candidates interested in running for elected positions in the June 7 Primary or November 8 General elections must file required paperwork with the County Auditor.  All positions require an Affidavit of Candidacy and all positions, except Township Trustees and Clerks, require Nomination Petitions signed by eligible electors of their respective jurisdiction.  The number of signatures required are dependent on the election type and position.  

PRIMARY Election (filing period is March 7 to March 25, 5 p.m.):

  • Board of Supervisor District 1, 2 and 3, Republican or Democratic candidates, must obtain 50 signatures (updated 3/22/2022, 4:30 p.m. Gov Reynolds signed HF2466 into law) from eligible electors of the same district for which the candidate is running
  • Recorder, Treasurer and Attorney must obtain 75 signatures (updated 3/22/2022, 4:30 p.m. Gov Reynolds signed HF2466 into law).

GENERAL Election (not running in the Primary Election):

  •  Partisan Offices [not affiliated with any organization (no party) OR representing a Non-Party Political Organization] (filing period is March 7 to March 25, 5 p.m.)
    • Board of Supervisor District 1, 2, and 3 must obtain 50 signatures from eligible electors of the same district for which the candidate is running
    • Recorder, Treasurer and Attorney - 75 signatures
  • Non-Partisan Offices
    • Township Clerks and Trustees - 0 signatures (filing period is March 7 to March 25, 5 p.m.)
    • Hospital Trustee - 50 signatures (filing period is through August 31, 5 p.m.)
    • Soil & Water Conservation District Commissioner and Agricultural Extension Council - 25 signatures (filing period is through August 31, 5 p.m.)
